Description of Organization

PINAY Quebec – founded in 1991 as a grassroots not-for-profit organization – is a Filipino Women’s Organization that works to empower and organize migrant Filipino domestic workers in Quebec, many of whom have been trafficked or exploited. Over three decades, PINAY has brought together domestic workers and their supporters in the struggle for fundamental rights and welfare as they advocate for the socioeconomic rights of caregivers, most of whom are racialized immigrant women living in Montreal. PINAY aims to improve these women’s overall working and living conditions, focusing on their long-term economic advancement and successful social integration.

Contribution to the Organization’s Mission and Social Transformation

PINAY has largely been a volunteer-based organization from its start and has struggled throughout the years with its limited resources and we would therefore like to build towards a more sustainable future in order to better help the vulnerable women migrant workers that we encounter. The intern’s tasks would greatly contribute to this project and towards our organization in general.

  • Work with the PINAY staff to manage the organization’s website and social media accounts, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging
  • Monitor media coverage of the organization and industry trends, identifying opportunities for proactive and reactive outreach.

  • Success in the role would involve helping to advance the development of our communications infrastructure.
