The Foundation for Genocide Education (FGE) is seeking dedicated individuals
to contribute to the success of our projects in research, program support, and grant applications.

The mission of The Foundation for Genocide Education is to ensure that the history
of genocide and the steps leading to it are taught in high schools across Canada and the United States. We accomplish this by collaborating with governments and pedagogical experts on ground-breaking resources about genocide, such as the new guide, ‘Studying Genocide’.

We prioritize human connection in conveying the lessons of the past. Teaching about genocide goes beyond facts and figures — it’s about remembering the people whose
lives were profoundly impacted.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on genocide education, historical contexts, and pedagogical methods.
  • Identify and research grant opportunities aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
  • Assist in drafting and submitting grant proposals under the executive team’s guidance.
  • Collaborate on proofreading and refining scripts, presentations, and materials in English and French.
  • Provide short translations (English to French and/or French to English) for website content, presentations, and documents.
  • Update and maintain the Foundation’s website regularly.
  • Support the Administrative Coordinator and the Director of Communications and Public Relations.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing skills (primarily in English).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail in research and content creation.
  • Knowledge of and interest in human rights/genocide education around the world.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to take initiative, show creativity, and adapt to changing priorities and challenges.
  • Proficiency in computer software (MS Office programs, G-Suite, Zoom).
  • Familiarity with social media content creation (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn), simple WordPress website updates, and grant applications is considered a strong asset

Languages:

  • Preferably native English and French:
  • English is the working language of the organization.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: January 2025
  • Duration: 12 weeks, with the potential to extend.
  • Hours: 10 hours per week
  • Compensation: Monthly stipend provided.
