Description of Organization

Hamidou Horticulture is a greenhouse project specializing in marginal and ancient vegetables. We offer healthy plants grown according to organic standards for your culinary needs, your daily life, and to share with your neighbors.

We also offer consultation services in the production of organic vegetables.

Responsibilities and deliverables

Are you a student at Concordia University? Do you have an eye for detail? Are you good with social media? Would you like to learn more about ethnic and ancient vegetables? We are looking for the right person to become our next Project Management Intern to work side by side with Hamidou to create and maintain communications materials, help with social media, as well as track deadlines, follow up applications, and respond to workshop registrants. Note that this post can be tailored based on the student’s skills, but we would prioritise students with more experience or expertise in social media and communications-related work. 

 

Assets and Requirements  

  • Student must be registered as a Concordia student
  • A team player
  • Hands-on learner
  • Curiosity towards the project’s mission and on-the-ground work, interest in agriculture
  • Social media and communications skills are a strong asset
  • Grant writing skills are a strong asset 

Duration: Winter Semester (12 weeks between January – April 2024, exact dates to be determined between the Host Organisation and student)

Site of employment: Hybrid, various locations such as Concordia Greenhouse and outdoor urban gardens (Loyola campus), farmers markets, various event venues

*All SHIFT interns are also welcome to come co-work at SHIFT’s space (LB-145) throughout the work week. 

Hours: 120 hours total (roughly 10 hours a week)

Remuneration: $2000

Please note that SHIFT payments are made as honorariums, sent in 2 installments at mid-semester and the end of the semester.
